FIELD: metallurgy; chemical technology; production of high-purity metals, mainly silicon; cleaning liquid metals by electric transfer in transverse magnetic field. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed device has heated space with reservoirs for starting metal and cleaned metal which are connected by means of passage, electrodes located in reservoirs for starting and cleaned metal. Passage is made in form of spiral forming magnetic field during passing of current. Passage may be made from conducting material (carbon, silicon carbide) for performing the function of electrode, thus simplifying the construction. ^ EFFECT: simplified construction; enhanced reliability; reduced power requirements. ^ 1 dwg |
