PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode structure for a fuel cell capable of restraining degradation of an electrode and efficiently consuming hydrogen gas.
SOLUTION: The MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) 10 is provided with an electrolyte film 11 permeating hydroxide ion. At a cathode electrode layer side of the film 11, a catalyst layer 12 made of carrier carbon carrying platinum and a gaseous diffusion layer 13 made of carbon fiber are formed. Further, at an anode electrode layer side of the film 11, a catalyst layer 14 made of a hydrogen storage alloy is formed. The catalyst layer 12 generates hydroxide ion from air, humidified water, and electron, and the film 11 moves the ion to a side of the catalyst layer 14. The catalyst layer 14 ionizes hydrogen gas into atomic hydrogen to store and release it. With this, an open-circuit voltage of the catalyst layer 12 can be made smaller than an elution potential of platinum to prevent degradation of the catalyst layer 12. Further, excess hydrogen gas can be stored at the catalyst layer 14, the hydrogen gas can be efficiently consumed without wasteful drainage.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
