PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a simple chuck by simplifying the operation and structure of a three-jaw chuck. SOLUTION: The simple chuck comprises three jaw members 60 which are guided to move by a guiding portion 42 of a chuck body 10 respectively. The jaw members 60 are engaged with a driving member 80 in the state that the relative movement of the jaw members 60 in the radial direction with respect to a central hole 14 is allowed, but the relative movement of the jaw members 60 in the direction parallel with the center line of the central hole 14 is prevented. The driving member 80 is energized so as to make the three jaw members 60 approach to each other by means of a compression coil spring 110. The driving member 80 is connected to an operating ring 120 by means of a connecting pin 126. When an operator moves the operating ring 120 backward against the energizing force of the compression coil spring 110, the driving member 80 also moves backward, and the three jaw members 60 are released. After the stem portion of an object has been inserted into the central hole 14 in this opened state of the chuck, the operating force applied to the operating ring 120 is released.
