A medicinal liquid injection system has a medicinal liquid syringe (200) and a medicinal liquid injection device. The medicinal liquid syringe (200) has a cylinder member (210), a piston member, and an RFID tag (230) attached on the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder member (210). The medicinal liquid injection device has a cylinder holding mechanism (120) for holding the cylinder member (210), a piston drive mechanism for operating the piston member, and an RFID reader. The RFID reader has reader antennas (132L, 132R) arranged at positions facing a tag antenna so as to be able to receive data from the RFID tag (230) with the cylinder member (210) appropriately held by the cylinder holding mechanism. The piston drive mechanism is permitted to operate only when the RFID reader is receiving data from the RFID tag (230).
