<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set proper target fixation temperature by estimating the temperature of a pressure member more accurately even when a fixing device having no cleaning mechanism is employed. <P>SOLUTION: After a heating heater is turned OFF after fixation by the fixing device 58 ends, the heating heater is turned ON for a specified time to clean the pressure member (pressure roller). Transition of the temperature of the pressure member after the heating heater is turned OFF is estimated at the end of the cleaning of the pressure member based upon prescribed conditions.
