PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shearing method and device for obtaining perpendicularity of a shearing end face by making generation of bending difficult in a steel bar crude material and suppressing degradation of quality of the end face. SOLUTION: In this method, a distal end face of the steel bar crude material is butted by a vertical part formed in an oscillatable steel bar crude material holding part 32 of a steel bar crude material receiving mechanism 3 to regulate a shearing length when the shearing the steel bar crude material by a shearing device 1 constituted of a fixed blade 21 and a movable blade 22, and the steel bar crude material having a lower surface held in a horizontal part formed in the steel bar crude material holding part 32 is lowered according to shearing timing. In the shearing device 1 for shearing the steel bar crude material by the fixed blade 21 and the movable blade 22, the steel bar crude material receiving mechanism 3 is arranged continuously to a shearing mechanism 2 on a delivering direction side of the steel bar crude material. In the steel bar crude material receiving mechanism 3, the vertical part is formed to regulate the shearing length by butting the distal end face of the delivered steel bar crude material, and the oscillatable and controllable steel bar crude material holding part 32 formed with the horizontal part holding the lower face of the steel bar crude material is provided.
