A pneumatic brake actuator equipped with a control valve is provided to prevent direct exposure thereof to external pollutants and the atmosphere by having a hermetic cavity and the control valve mechanism, with a relatively simple structure. A pneumatic brake actuator(10) equipped with a control valve(86), comprises a hermetic housing(20), a diaphragm(30,32), a spring, a hollow actuator rod(78), and the control valve. The hermetic housing includes a first end wall, a second end wall facing the first end wall, and a peripheral sidewall extended from between the first and the second end walls, thereby forming an inner cavity. The diaphragm divides the inner cavity into a spring chamber(58) and a pressure chamber(38), and is moved between a first position and a second position according to the state of the pressure chamber. The spring is disposed in the spring chamber to bias the diaphragm toward the second position. The actuator rod is moved to operate or release a parking brake according to the position of the diaphragm. The control valve includes a valve body having an opening.
