To improve the protection characteristics in a driver leg restraint apparatus, an air bag (12) includes a protection cloth (14) to cover a part opposite to a key device (4) when the air bag (12) is upwardly inflated in a vicinity of a lower surface of a steering column cover (2). A space (S) comes to exist between the protection cloth (14) and a top part of the air bag (12) when the air bag (12) is inflated. When the air bag (12) is inflated, if a key holder (6) or the like is contacted with the protection cloth (14), the protection cloth (14) is drawn into the space (S), thereby absorbing the impact from this key holder (6). |
