PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bentonite-based material which can form a cut-off layer having a high dry density with the use of a spray technique. SOLUTION: The bentonite-based material comprises a main material containing bentonite and interlaminar cation-containing water containing the same type of the interlaminar cation of bentonite. Waste disposal facilities are prepared by adding interlaminar cation-containing water to the main material to produce a mixture and spraying the obtained mixture on to a cut-off layer-forming site.
