<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can maintain its image quality by reducing the toner residue on a thermal transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device has a first image carrier 80 to carry a first toner image, a first intermediate transfer unit 21 disposed facing the first image carrier 80, a second image carrier 81 to carry a second toner image, a second intermediate transfer unit 31 disposed facing the second image carrier 81, the thermal transfer body 47 to transfer and fix the toner images on the intermediate transfer units to both sides of a recording material. The thermal transfer body 47 has a first thermal transfer body 47A, 47B to transfer the toner image on the first intermediate transfer unit 21 to the recording material, and a second thermal transfer body 47D, 47E to transfer the toner image on the second intermediate transfer unit 31 to the recording material.
