PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for washing rice which positively remove impurities contained in a rinsing after polishing rice and can wash rice without wasting water for washing rice such as water, and an apparatus for cooking rice with the function of washing rice. SOLUTION: The apparatus for washing rice 1 is so configured that the rinsing is extracted into a distilling part 4 through sucking part 2 from a container 29 charged with rice and a water separated from the impurities contained in the rinsing after polishing rise can be obtained by distilling the extracted rinsing. The water is supplied again to the container 29 charged with rice from a supplying part 6.
