Disclosed is a thermoelectric conversion device comprising a first electrode (21), a second electrode (23), and a layered oxide (22) interposed between the first electrode (21) and the second electrode (23). The first electrode (21), the layered oxide (22) and the second electrode (23) are arranged in this order, thereby forming a multilayer structure. The layered oxide (22) is formed by alternately arranging electrically conductive layers (11) and electrically insulating layers (12). The c-axis of the layer oxide (22) is perpendicular to the interface between the first electrode (21) and the layered oxide (22). The area of the second electrode (23) is smaller than the area of the first electrode (21).
