PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a radar system, and to improve precision. SOLUTION: In the FM-CW system radar system, beat signals are frequency-converted by an FFT circuit 40. A signal processing circuit 44 obtains the distribution of the signal level of a beat signal to a frequency and a measurement angle by using the frequency component of the beat signal obtained at each period for respective increase and decrease periods, and obtains a signal level Lp and a frequency fp of the maximum point of a curved surface for indicating the distribution of each period and a center angleθm and angle widthΔθa in an angle range as the variables of data at the maximum point. Further, the data at the maximum points at both the periods are compared, the combination of the maximum points where the difference between the variables is less than a reference value is obtained, and the relative distance and speed between a target and the radar system, and the position and size of the target are obtained, based on the data at the maximum points, thus obtaining the position and size of the target without narrowing the beam width of transmission waves.
