<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact sound arrester effectively exhausting moisture from a sound absorbing material containing moisture. <P>SOLUTION: The sound arrestor has a cross section elongated in vertical direction, a plurality of sound transmission holes 41 are formed on its side wall (plate-shaped members 26, 27). Exhaust passages 46 through which exhaust gas flows; and an outer shell 12 formed so as to surround the exhaust passage, filled with sound absorbing materials 42, 43 arranged between a side wall of the exhaust passages 46 and itself, constituting sound absorbing chambers 44, 45, are arranged. A bottom of the exhaust passages 46 receives water from the sound absorbing chambers 44, 45 through the sound transmission holes 41 and drains the water outside the sound arrester 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
