The method involves utilizing a high-frequency-plasma-injection system, and forming electrodes and a ceramic body for forming a sliding spark gap. A sliding plasma (7) is produced to burnout deposits on the ceramic body, in operating time beyond the actual mixture ignition. A frequency, a pulse width, and a voltage of an energy source are varied for forming the sliding plasma, where the distance of the sliding plasma to the ceramic body surface is adjustable.
