PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning type fluorescence microscope capable of achieving downsizing of a spectrum detection system and efficiently performing fluorometry of a multiply stained sample. SOLUTION: The sample is two-dimensionally scanned with a laser beam from a laser beam source unit, and fluorescence from the sample is made to pass through a confocal pinhole and made incident on a spectroscopic unit 16. The spectroscopic unit 16 has: a multi-channel photodetector 17 having a plurality of light receiving parts 17a and generating output corresponding to intensity of the light received by the light receiving parts 17a; and a plurality of elements 18 for spectrum arranged on the optical path of the fluorescence passing through the confocal pinhole, provided correspondingly to the respective light receiving parts 17a of the multi-channel photodetector 17 and having different spectral wavelength ranges. The plurality of elements 18 for spectrum having the different spectral wavelength ranges can be replaced optionally with respect to the respective light receiving parts 17a of the multi-channel photodetector 17.
