PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system or a remote control device capable of canceling remote control while ensuring security.

SOLUTION: In this remote operation system for controlling an on-vehicle device of a vehicle 5 based on operation commands transmitted from a portable device 2 carried by a driver through the service center 3, the vehicle 5 returns the on-vehicle device into a condition before control based on the operation commands when the vehicle 5 receives cancel operation commands for returning the on-vehicle device into the condition before control by the operation commands from the service center 3 after controlling the on-vehicle device based on the operation commands.
