PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for a camera, the focal plane shutter being of a lock type designed to facilitate the assembly of an unlocking mechanism. SOLUTION: In a set condition, a pressing member 30 rotatably attached to the shaft 26d of a hold member 26 presses a front blade unlocking member 22 and a rear blade unlocking member 23 by means of pressing strips 30a and 30b, thereby keeping them in contact with electromagnets 17 and 18 to which electricity has not been supplied. The pressing member 30 is provided with a bent abutting part 30c, and the hold member 26 is provided with a stopper part 26e. Accordingly, rotation of the pressing member 30 in one direction is blocked by the stopper part 26e while rotation in the other direction is blocked by the end face 26f of the hold member 26. Thus, with the pressing member 30 attached in advance, the hold member 26 can be fitted without taking account of the position (rotated position) of the pressing member 30.
