PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die which can prevent an air reservoir from occurring on a molded article, and at the same time, is excellent in demolding property, corrosion resistance and so forth, in the molding die for plastic molded articles and so forth, and in addition, to provide a surface treating method for the die. SOLUTION: The molding surface of this die is formed into an uneven surface 2, and on the uneven surface 2, a double coating film is formed by applying a usual plating layer 3 and a fluorine containing plating layer 4 in this order. Also, this surface treating method for the die comprises a surface grinding process, a first polishing process, a washing process, a first plating process, a second plating process, and a second polishing process. In this case, in the surface grinding process, an unevenness 2 is formed on the molding surface of the die by sand-blasting or the like. In the first polishing process, the uneven surface 2 is polished. In the washing process, the polished surface is washed and cleaned or the like. In the first plating process, plating is performed on the molding surface on which the unevenness 2 has been formed. In the second plating process, the additional fluorine containing plating is performed. In the second polishing process, the molding surface is polished in such a manner that both of the two coating films may be exposed on the molding surface, and at the same time, a recess section 6 may be left on the molding surface.
