PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing various kinds of O-alkyl cyclic thiohydroxamic acids in high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the O-alkyl cyclic thiohydroxamic acid comprises converting a compound represented by general formula [I] to a compound represented by general formula [II], and removing a substituent R<SP>1</SP>therefrom to provide the O-alkyl cyclic thiohydroxamic acid represented by general formula [III]. (In the formulas, Q is an atomic group required for forming a ring by bonding to a nitrogen atom and a carbon atom constituting a thiohydroxamic acid group; R<SP>1</SP>is a removable substituent; and R<SP>2</SP>is an alkyl group which may have a substituent).
