PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica gel carrier allowing optical resolution of a compound with a very low diffusion coefficient with higher resolution and causing less pressure loss during liquid supply of a mobile phase in use for liquid chromatography. SOLUTION: This silica gel carrier has a coating layer of optically active organic compound on a silica gel surface having a double pore structure constructed of through pores with a pore size of 0.5-4μm and mesopores with that of 2-50 nm. The optically active organic compound includes at least one asymmetric carbon atom inside the molecule, and two binding sites of the asymmetric carbon atom connect with a carbonyl group which may has a substituent, an amino group which may has a substituent, a hydroxyl group, or a thiol group. Other two binding sites of the asymmetric carbon atom connect with a hydrogen atom or a carbon atom. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
