PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ultrasonic diagnostic equipment where deterioration of a picture due to the error of mechanical operation by an ultrasonic probe of a mechanical swinging type is reduced. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe of a mechanical swinging type for scanning a three-dimensional area using an electronic scanning means and a mechanical scanning means together is provided with a detection means for detecting information about the position of a group of ultrasonic vibrators for carrying out electronic scanning. In the case of driving the mechanical scanning means, the electronic scanning means is driven so as to start transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves to a prescribed area according to information about a position detected actually by the detection means.
