Disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising: (i) one or more mono- or diglycerides of formula (I) wherein R1, R2, and R3 are selected from the group consisting of from C6 to C26 fatty acids, PEG polymers and hydrogen, provided that at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a C6-C26 fatty acid residue and at least one is a PEG polymer residue in an amount of 2.5% v/v, (ii) water, and (iii) a drug substance. Compositions of the type disclosed show improved absorption enhancement and bioavailability of drug substances.
