<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a language processing device that can determine the semantic well-formedness of expressions extracted from English text, and output well-formed expressions along with corresponding translations and output nothing about ill-formed expressions. <P>SOLUTION: A noun phrase A is extracted from first language text, the noun phrase A is machine-translated, and nouns MTN<SB>i</SB>(i=1-n) included in the machine translation result are extracted. A noun phrase B is extracted from second language text, and it is determined whether each noun MTN<SB>i</SB>is similar to the noun phrase B. The ratio (relevance rate) of the number of nouns MTN<SB>i</SB>similar to the noun phrase B to the number of nouns MTN<SB>i</SB>is next calculated, and it is determined whether or not the ratio (relevance rate) exceeds a threshold.
