A slide type mobile terminal for recognizing its sliding up and down is provided to accurately recognize a slide ON/OFF state without using a magnet or a magnetic sensor. A sliding movement transfer unit includes a carrier(200) which can be moved by being tightly attached on both sides of a linear groove formed in a sliding direction and a stopper formed at one side of the groove. A pivoting movement unit(300) is provided on a lower panel(400) and combined with the carrier(200) so that a pivoting movement bar(350) is downwardly pivoted by a hinge part according to a horizontal movement of the carrier(200) to allow an upper contact part(351) to contact with a lower contact part(352). When the carrier(200) is moved in the opposite direction to the direction of the horizontal movement, a hinge tension spring(370) restores the pivoting movement unit(300) so that the carrier(200) can be released from the pivoting movement unit(300) and the upper and lower contact parts(351,352) can be detached. A sensor(500) senses the contact of the pivoting movement unit(300).
