PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an output image of an appearance in similar color from a compatible machine with a different visual environment from a reference machine. SOLUTION: A memory 2 stores a comparison reference image information used for correcting a color converter 6 in advance. A color characteristics extractor 3 extracts a color characteristics information from the reference image which is formed by an external device and taken with a color scanner 1. An environmental condition inputting part 5 inputs an environmental condition under which a formed image is observed. A color correction information calculator 4 calculates color correction information used by the color converter 6 based on the comparison reference image information, color characteristics information, and the inputted environmental condition.
