SILVER-DOPED SILICA POWDER AND ITS PREPARING METHOD

A silver-doped silica powder having characteristics that silver ions are slowly eluted from the silica gel over a long period of time, and a method for preparing the same are provided. A silver-doped silica powder is characterized that aluminum ions(Al^3+) and silver ions(Ag^+) are introduced into the network structure of a silica gel. The aluminum ions(Al^3+) and silver ions(Ag^+) are introduced into the network structure of the silica gel at a mole ratio of 1 to 3:1. The silica gel contains silicon ions(Si^4+) and aluminum ions(Al^3+) at a mole ratio of 1:0.03 to 0.09. The silica gel contains silicon ions(Si^4+) and silver ions(Ag^+) at a mole ratio of 1:0.03. A method for preparing a silver-doped silica powder comprises the processes of: adding aluminum nitrate nonahydrate(Al(NO3)3À9H2O) to an aqueous colloidal silica solution and agitating the materials; adding silver nitrate(AgNO3) to the mixture and agitating the materials to obtain a gel; centrifugal separating the obtained gel; cleaning and drying the centrifugal separated gel; and sintering the resulting material.
