PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance precision of an inspection result, and to reduce an inspection cost, in a complete survey method for a general purpose engine. SOLUTION: An identification code 91 imparted to the general purpose engine 10 is read out by an identification code reader 102, and an engine basic specification data of the general purpose engine of an inspection object and an equipment correspondence engine specification data based on equipment mounted with the general purpose engine are automatically read from a database DB in a complete survey machine 104, based on the identification code. Various inspections as a unit body of the general purpose engine are executed automatically by the complete survey machine, based on the read-in engine basic specification data. The equipment correspondence engine specification data is automatically written thereafter from the complete survey machine into a memory 62 of the general purpose engine accepted in the engine unit inspection. Whether the general purpose engine has an output characteristic required in the mounted equipment or not is thereafter confirmation-inspected by an equipment correspondence inspecting machine 105.
