For joining two components, one(4) of which is transparent to a laser beam(LS), the beam is moved backwards and forwards along a joint(8) between two points(S1,S2) and melt the second component(2). When the beam is moved forward the two points move along the joint at a lower speed(vv) than the speed (vosz) of the oscillating movement. A molten section(A) is therefore created which moves along the joint at the lower speed(vv). When the section(A) is molten both components are moved towards each other in their overlapping area(6). Pendular movement of the laser beam is produced by galvanometrically driven rotatable mirrors(12).
