An OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to perform an upper part emission or top emission and increase a light emission efficiency by excluding a getter from a protection layer by closely forming a protection layer between a cathode and a shield cap. In an OLED, an anode(36) is formed on an upper face of a substrate(32). An organic light emission unit(38) is formed on an upper face of the anode(36). A cathode(40) is formed on an upper face of the organic light emission unit(38). A protection unit(42) is formed to be closed with the anode(36) and the organic light emission unit(38) and the cathode(40). The protection unit includes a shield cap(74). |
