A method and an apparatus for treating wastewater, which prevent damage of a membrane module due to dry running of the membrane module and prevent stopping of wastewater treatment operation by maintaining the membrane module in a condition that the membrane module is dipped into wastewater, are provided. A method for treating wastewater comprises: a solid removal step(S1) of removing solids contained in wastewater; an inflow amount control step(S2) of controlling the flow amount of wastewater flown into a bioreactor to prevent the solid removed wastewater from being excessively flown into the bioreactor; a bio-reacting and purifying step(S3) of supplying air into the bioreactor through an air diffuser to purify wastewater while generating activated sludge; a treated water discharge step(S4) of operating a membrane module dipped into the bioreactor to separate treated water from wastewater through solid-liquid separation and discharge the separated treated water to the outside; a membrane cleaning step(S5) of ejecting air onto the membrane module through a cleaning equipment to clean a surface of membranes such that the membrane module can be normally operated; and a dip maintenance control step(S6) of controlling operation of the membrane module to maintain the membrane module in a condition that the membrane module is dipped into wastewater. |
