METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING MOBILE INSTANT MASSANGER INCLUDING AVATAR FOR USE IN MOBILE INSTANT MASSANGER SERVICE

A method and a system for offering an avatar to a mobile instant messenger of a mobile terminal are provided to search/download only the avatar image not present in the mobile terminal by installing an avatar server in the mobile network and transmitting ID information of the avatar image to the mobile terminal from the avatar server. A mobile instant messenger server(160) searches the ID information for the avatar image provided to a mobile instant messenger service and searches/transmits the ID information of the avatar image to the mobile terminal(100) by receiving an avatar image request signal from the mobile terminal. An avatar database(164) provides the avatar to the mobile instant messenger service. If the mobile terminal is connected to the mobile instant messenger server, the mobile instant messenger server searches the information for the avatar of the mobile terminal from a subscriber database(162) and transmits the searched information to the mobile terminal. The avatar database stores the avatar image and the ID information of the avatar image.
