A digital image processing device and a display method of the same are provided to improve the visibility of a user by adjusting brightness of a display according to peripheral brightness inputted through an imaging unit. An imaging unit(200) converts light from a subject into electric image signals through photo-electric conversion. A control unit(202) inspects peripheral brightness from the electric image signals and adjusts a display brightness signal according to a result of the inspection. A display unit(204) displays an image according to the adjusted brightness signal. The imaging unit has a light receiving plane receiving light through color filter mosaics of pixel sensors regularly arranged at a two-dimensional area, and an electronic circuit outputting the light entering the pixel sensors as electric image signals. The control unit calculates peripheral brightness from the electric image signals by pixels.
