PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail belt of an escalator, so constructed as to prevent falling accident, by indicating the moving direction of the handrail belt to be easily distinguishable on the surface of the handrail belt. SOLUTION: A printed sheet 6 is disposed on the surface of the handrail belt 5 and is provided with a plurality of direction indication marks 6A spaced from each other so that there is at least one mark in a semicircular range H of an inverted part. Each direction indication mark 6A for indicating the moving direction is different in color from the handrail belt 5, and has the same width as the width W2 of a flat part of the surface of the handrail belt 5.
