The method involves automatically detecting a distance change of a force transducer (4) compared to a receiver (6) in a contactless manner using an optical measuring process by a camera (9) of an image processing system (10). Force, which is transferred by a surgeon to an instrument and acting on tissues of a patient, is determined based on a preset parameter of deformation units and the detected distance change using a control unit. An independent claim is also included for a device for use in medical area or nursing area for contact measurement of force acting on a force transducer.
