PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in conventional flexible pressure-sensitive elements, wherein it may pick up as noise, pressure or signals in directions other than a direction in which detection is to be made, since it has isotropic sensitivity with respect to external pressure, and wherein signal processing for removing of the noise becomes complicated. SOLUTION: This cable-like flexible pressure-sensitive element comprises a protective layer 13, a core electrode 14, an outer electrode 12, and a flexible pressure-sensitive body 11. In this element, by giving anisotropy to the spontaneous polarization Pp of a cross section vertical to the longitudinal direction of a cable in Fig. 1(b), the anisotropic spontaneous polarization Pp causes selective electric charges to be generated in a pressure-sensitive direction F and a voltage, corresponding thereto, to be generated. As a result, pressure/vibration, applied in the pressure-sensitive direction, can be detected with low noise, realizing superior sensitivity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
