PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage or the like of the guide link of a cutter such as a portable circular saw or the like. SOLUTION: The cutter is equipped with a housing 2 stored with a circular saw 1 and its drive part, the surface plate 4 arranged under the housing and connected to the front end of the housing in a revolvable manner through a pivot shaft 3 and a cutting depth adjusting device 5 permitting the revolution of the surface plate around the pivot shaft and regulating the protrusion quantity of the circular saw to the region under the surface plate. The cutting depth adjusting device 5 is equipped with the rigid guide link 17 connected to the rear end part of the surface plate through the support shaft 18 revolvable centering around the pivot pin 25b pivotally supported on the surface plate 4 to extend into the housing and fixing means 19 and 20 for fixing the guide link to the housing at a desired position in its length direction. Since the guide link is housed in the housing, the guide link does not become the obstruction of cutting work or the like in the cutting work or the like.
