An image forming apparatus is provided to realize a stabilized image by inducing constant-speed traveling of a photoconductive medium by absorbing a change of speed, vibration, and a noise due to disturbance or torque change generated in driving gears for driving the photoconductive medium. An image forming unit has a rotative photoconductive medium. A transfer unit has a transfer belt circumscribing with the photoconductive medium. A driving unit has a photoconductive medium driving gear for rotating the photoconductive medium, and a transfer belt driving gear for rotating the transfer belt. A load apply member(140) applies a predetermined load to the photoconductive medium driving gear. A load control unit(150) controls the load applied to the photoconductive medium driving gear.
