FIELD: electrical engineering; aircraft alkali starter batteries used as on-board stand-by power supplies of flying vehicles. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed battery is designed for use in flying vehicles having no special pressurized compartment and is attached on board through "sea-bolt" and "side-pin" type joints, provision being made for excluding its splashing with electrolyte during maintenance (charging) procedures as well as during its charging from on-board power mains; it is placed in stiff welded container whose interior is pressurized by means of labyrinth seal using rubber packing in cover, sealed plug socket, and sealing rubber insert for joining inner space of battery container with flying-vehicle drain system wherefrom gases are discharged into surrounding atmosphere. Battery splashing by electrolyte is eliminated by means of special battery V-shaped shield intercepting electrolyte from vent port in the course of battery charge both when in service on flying vehicle and during maintenance procedures. ^ EFFECT: facilitated in-service maintenance of storage battery. ^ 1 cl, 3 dwg |
