IP ADDRESS AUTOCONFIGURATION IN MOBILE AD-HOC NETWORKS

A method for automatically setting IP addresses in ad-hoc network nodes is provided to enable a new ad-hoc node to confirm address uniqueness in an ad-hoc network area by accessing an Internet gateway via a default node and be assigned with a prefix for a global address, for access to the existing Internet, from the Internet gateway, thereby enabling the new user node to automatically set the address without significantly increasing loads of a necessary network and easily set the global address necessary for communication with the existing Internet. A method for automatically setting addresses comprises the following steps of: enabling a new ad-hoc node(20) to participate in an ad-hoc network and set its address for a link area(S10); enabling the new ad-hoc node(20) to decide a default node(11) closest to an Internet gateway(30)(S70); enabling the new ad-hoc node(20) to approach the Internet gateway(30) via the default node(11) and confirm address uniqueness at an ad-hoc network area(S80,S90); and being assigned with a prefix for a global address capable of having access to existing Internet from the Internet gateway(30)(S100).
