An apparatus for controlling an outdoor information display unit by using a DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting)/DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) data service and a control method thereof are provided to transmit data to each display unit without the separate expense by using simple structure. When data is received through a DAB signal processing member(411), a control member analyzes the received data(413). The control member analyzes the ID(IDentification) numbers, display data and display time. Thereafter, the control member checks whether the received data must be displayed at the display unit(415). If the received data must be displayed at the display unit, the control member stores the display time and display data(417) and displays the display data at the display time.
