In a mold tool for connecting and bonding metal sheet parts (11, 12) by point-form, low area pressing together using a power-driven joining punch (4) acting on the parts located over a matrix (3), the punch has a longitudinal lubricant and/or coolant (L/C) channel connectable (preferably cyclically) to a source of L/C so that L/C is fed cyclically to a joining extension (6) which acts on the parts and plunges into the matrix. Independent claims are included for three variants of the mold tool, in which (instead of the coolant channel arrangement): (1) the matrix (3) is formed in two parts, from a boundary wall (33) and a matrix insert (36) serving as an anvil; (2) the matrix (3) is formed in two parts and consists of a tubular boundary wall (33) through which a matrix insert (36) in the form of an anvil passes, the wall being of ductile material and the insert being of hard material; or (3) the matrix (3) is formed in two parts and consists of a tubular boundary wall (33) and a rod-form matrix insert (36) in the form of an anvil enclosed by the boundary wall, where the wall together with the upper side of the insert defines an opening (13) for the joining process.
|
