PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity, high image density and improved image preservation stability. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material having an image forming layer containing photosensitive silver halide, a nonphotosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder on at least either face of the base, a compound expressed by general formula (1), W AuX<SB>m</SB>, is contained. In the general formula (1), the Au denotes a monovalent or tervalent gold ion; the W denotes a compound selected from ones represented by specified general formulae; the dotted line denotes the fact that the W is coordinately bonded to the Au; the X denotes a monovalent anion; and the (m) denotes an integer of 1 to 3.
