PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fermentation method in which organic waste to be thrown in a fermentation tank is pretreated effectively, so that organic waste can be turned over regardless of the property and state of organic waste without imposing a load on a turning-over means, the fermentation time in the fermentation tank can be shortened remarkably and the throughput capacity per unit of time can be increased. SOLUTION: The continuous fermentation method comprises a step of subjecting the object to be treated to predetermined pretreatment. The pretreatment is performed by controlling the object to be treated to be a wet granular material having a solid phase of around 30%, a liquid phase of around 30% and a gas phase of around 40%.
