The device has an electrical driving device (1) assigned to one of wheel axles with a pair of left and right drive wheels (15, 16). A coupling device (3) controlled by a control unit (2) is designed to produce coupling between electric motors (7, 8), so that the drive torque of the device (1) resulting from the coupling is directed to one of the wheels, while the other wheel is decouplable from the driving device by the coupling device. An independent claim is also included for a method of driving a vehicle.
