PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of relaxing limitation of shape and material, of preventing deterioration and of ensuring the mechanical strength and sealing properties. SOLUTION: An organic EL light source 1 projects connecting electrodes 7 and 8, and a vessel 2 is used for housing the organic EL light source 1 therein so as to seal it from the outside air, has translucency and has penetration parts 12 penetrated by the connecting electrodes 7 and 8. The organic EL light source 1 is composed by stacking electrode films 4 and 5 on both surfaces of an organic EL emission layer 3, and either or both of the electrode films 4 and 5 is/are transparent. Since the deposition or application process of the electrode films 4 and 5 and the EL emission layer 3, for forming the organic EL light source 1 and a sealing process for sealing the organic EL light source 1 in the vessel 2, can be considered as separate processes in terms of reaction and conduction, the flexibility in the sealing structure and the material are increased and a further simple method can be employed.
