The reaper has grain harvesting mechanisms (7, 8) disposed on both sides of a mounting frame and housed in separate harvesting mechanism supports (5). The supports are articulated around the frame to be pivoted around vertical pivoting axles (9, 10) and maintained in a preset operating position by two safety devices (11, 12). The devices have tie rods that are articulated on the frame and the supports and have a length that is elastically modified when the rods` traction force exceeds a preset traction force. A driving mechanism (15) has a distributor gear for controlling the mechanisms.
