PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an optical scanner unit and its optical element commonly in a plurality of models or specifications of an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical scanner irradiates a polygon mirror 201 with a plurality of light beams outgoing from a light source in accordance with image data, scanning a plurality of photoreceptors 3 as scanning beams for exposure. The optical scanner is equipped with a primary optical system unit 100 composed of an optical system that emits to the polygon mirror 201 a plurality of light beams outgoing from the light source and a secondary optical system unit 200 provided with an optical system that emits to the photoreceptors the light beam reflected on the polygon mirror 201. The primary optical system unit 100 is structured freely attachably and detachably relative to the secondary optical system unit 200, wherein an unit in which the primary and the secondary optical system unit 100, 200 are combined is freely detachably composed relative to the image forming apparatus having the photoreceptors 3.
