PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery which uses an outer package made of aluminum or its alloy and is excellent in sealing property. SOLUTION: A sealed battery 1 has a vent plug for liquid electrolyte 8 and formed on a wall surface or a battery header 3 of a battery outer package 2. A small radius 11 facing the inside of the battery outer package and a large radius 10 facing the outside of the battery outer package communicate with each other via a step 12 in the vent plug for liquid electrolyte 8, an outer layer 13 of a sealing member 9 is placed facing the outside, the sealing member 9 is made of a laminate formed by an outer layer made of aluminum or its alloy and a metal layer 14 having a melting point higher than aluminum, and the portion between the outer layer 13 and the meeting section of the vent plug for liquid electrolyte 8 is sealed by welding.
