PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a force detection device capable of inhibiting the vibration generated by the magnetostriction element when an impulse current flows through the force sensor of a magnetostrictive type for reducing the hysteresis and also inhibiting the lowering of detection precision caused by the fluctuation of pre-pressure. SOLUTION: The force detection device comprises: the force receiving part 20 for receiving the operational force; the force detection part 40 for detecting the force for one axial direction, wherein the magnetostrictive sensor 46 is arranged in the housing 45 capable of reciprocative motion along the one axial direction provided on the support 5; the force propagation body 21 for propagating operational force arranged capable of reciprocative motion along the one axial direction provided on the support 5; the pre-pressure receiving part 3 swingable in a plane along the one axis pivotally supported by the force propagation body 21; the movable base 4 which is integrally provided with the housing 45 and capable of reciprocative motion along the one axial direction against the support 5; the coil spring 22 which is provided between the movable base 4 and pre-pressure reception part 3 for imparting the pre-pressure to the force detection part 40; and the cushioning material 6 which intervenes between the opposite sides of movable base 4 and the support 5 facing in the one axial direction.
